The unruly minority
Unauthorised gypsy and traveller camps are a disruptive, and expensive, societal problem in the UK. And the government is being urged to make deliberate trespass a criminal offence.
The government said the majority of the traveller community were law-abiding.
If that's supposed to be an argument for not making deliberate trespass a criminal offence, then it's a non sequitur that could be applied to just about anything. The majority of the population would not commit murder, but it's still a criminal offence, so as to deter those who might, and punish those who do.
