BBC News set no less than three of its crack layabouts to work on reporting staff anger at John Lewis, as it struggles against financial losses and the competition.
John Lewis has been struggling to compete with High Street rivals such as Amazon and Primark, while its supermarket chain Waitrose has underperformed Tesco and Aldi during the cost of living crisis.

Unreliable internet sources maintain the quip was originally Alan Coren's. And he referred to riff-raff, not scum. And it may've been Tesco, not Sainsbury's. But I couldn't find an authentic original quotation to substantiate any of it. So, yeah. (shrug)
