And it's come to this

What price 'safety'?

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the EU has decided to reopen borders to citizens from fifteen non-EU countries. Pending a reciprocal agreement, China will be included among the clean list safe travel destinations. (mask)

According to EU officials, the list was based on a number of scientific factors, including that the infection rate in the non-EU country was low enough. And we all trust China on that one, don't we? (rolleyes)

Given recent reports of a new strain of flu in China with pandemic potential, and that the Chinese gift of COVID-19 to the world was exacerbated by stifled reporting, the EU's reliance on Chinese truth and honour is naive, if not wantonly reckless. And all for the sake of a reciprocal agreement.
