Bitches bitch'n'

A more accurate guess

BBC headline: Police search for the names of 22 women murdered

Despite the solemnity of the subject, let's start with a little frivolous piss-taking of the BBC's editorial capabilities.

The headline states: Police search for the names of 22 women murdered. But it sounds more poetic than probably intended; it's either missing a comma—Police search for the names of 22 women, murdered—or, more likely, the adjective is misplaced—Police search for the names of 22 murdered women. Dunno, it just seems like a strange way of phrasing the story lead. (shrug)

But then I get an opportunity to score bonus pedantry points, thanks to the caption of an image comparing old and new facial reconstructions of one of the victims.

As it stands, the new image is assumed to be more accurate. But no one really knows for sure. Since it's also a reconstruction of an unknown victim, albeit using the latest gee-whizz technology and state-of-the-art hand-waving, it's still at best a best guess.
