Bitches bitch'n'

Body count

A minor triviality; grammatically speaking that is, because a human tragedy underlies it.

A shooting in New Zealand's capital has left two dead. Or three, possibly. (confused)

A shooting has left two people dead in the centre of Auckland, New Zealand, hours before the city is due to open the Fifa Women's World Cup. Six other people, including police officers, were injured and the gunman is also dead after the incident at 07:22 (19:22 GMT) on a construction site in the central business district.

Neil Johnston and Emily McGarvey, BBC Sport and BBC News

So, are there two dead including the gunman, or does his addition bring the count to three? With two of the BBC's crack urinalists on the story, you'd think that they'd give more thought to clarity. Mind you, Johnston reports for BBC Sport—which is why the kind British TV licence fee payers have sent him on a holiday down under in the first place—so clear thinking is probably not his strong suit.

For extra petty points: FIFA is FIFA, not Fifa. But Mr Johnston couldn't be expected to get right the one thing that he's being sent on holiday for. (rolleyes)
