Will this madness never end?

Editorial broad

Solicitations to submit articles to predatory journals outside one's field of expertise is not uncommon. But an invitation to join the editorial board of such an esteemed [by whom?] organisation is definitely a step up.

I recall receiving this dubious honour only once before, from another PeerTechz journal outside my field of expertise. In that case, it was otolaryngology/rhinology. Other than the odd sore throat and sniffles, my only ENT experience has been inflammation of the middle ear, when I was a kid. I remember, it was really painful, but hardly worthy of editorial board membership.

Molecular and genetic medicine is even more obtuse. I was under the impression that all medicine involves molecules, drug molecules. As for genetic medicine, all I hope is that I never have need for it, because it sounds spooky. So why would anyone consider me to join the editorial board?

I think they hand out these opportunities like candy, to add faces to the editorial board, and credence to attract the sheep for fleecing. And presumably under the delusion that membership will be seen as valuable academic or career recognition. It isn't, so what's in it for me? (thinking)

No, I would not give these reptiles any personal information, let alone my CV and photo.
