Faith in the impossible
According to her email's subject line, Faith Arnold has issued her first reminder for me to utilise her services, although I have no recollection of her contacting me before now. Oh, of course, this is a generic template hosted on a campaign sever. And her missive found its way into my junk mail folder, not because it met any filtering rules that I'd set after seeing it before, but because SpamAssassin awarded it a score of 12.9, from a required score of 4.0, based solely on generic rules; which suggests she's punching way above her weight.
MCR has an impact factor
of 2.93, which would be impressive if it were an authentic metric. It's indexed in more than 25 databases, although I doubt that the ISI she quotes is the reputable ISI, i.e.Web of Science's Institute for Scientific Information. Google Scholar seems to be cited by all the skeevies; I have no idea whether it's critically curated, but I doubt it.

Whether her ISI is the ISI or not, and irrespective of the impact factor's relevance, Faith's kind reply betrays her locale. And that's all I was really after.

I am unsure of the method they use for the calculation but I would certainly write to them to know if they can share the methodology, they use to calculate the impact factor. And, indeed, one month later Faith returns to advise me that MCR is reknowned for its many qualities publications
. Although she doesn't go so far as to explain what those many qualities are, I doubt that high academic quality is one of them.
