Kenough is enough

Ryan Gosling as Ken Warner Bros
Man portraying a plastic doll named Ken.

Ryan Gosling says he's honoured to be one of this year's Academy Award nominees in the best supporting actor category, for his role portraying a plastic doll named Ken in Barbie. His joy is tempered, however, with disappointment that the film's director, Greta Gerwig, and his inanely-grinning, bug-eyed leading lady aren't similarly recognised. Oh well, never mind.

They'll both be in competition nonetheless, Gerwig for best adapted screenplay, and Robbie for best picture, although they'll likely miss out on the $125k goodie bags. Quelle dommage.

Gosling said in a statement: Their work should be recognized along with the other very deserving nominees. He doesn't seem to care whether the other very deserving nominees in the best actress and best director categories might be more very deserving than them, and he didn't go so far as to name those whom should be dropped in their favour. I guess the virtue signal only shines so bright.
