Chinese lawmakers have drafted a law banning speech and dressing detrimental to the spirit of Chinese people. This includes wearing, or forcing others to wear, clothing considered to undermine the spirit or hurt the feelings of the Chinese nation. Whatever that means.

The proposals have sparked heated debate within China, not least regarding the application toward attire; what is, and is not, considered acceptable. And that's because there's currently no guidance as to what constitutes clothing that could offend an entire nation.

Nor is it clear why such a law was needed in the first place. We can only imagine. (thinking)
