BBC home page: “Peter Higgs, father of ‘God particle’, dies aged 94”
BBC home page.

Two days' ago, Georgina Rannard was the BBC's climate reporter, and only a little while later she's their science reporter. Both come under the general umbrella of Science & Environment though, so I guess it's all pretty much the same thing at Beeb Towers. (shrug)

Anyhow, in this new guise she's reporting the death of Peter Higgs, the man who theorised the existence of what later became known as the Higgs boson. For those among you who thought he'd already died, the real news is that he's only just now caught up with us.

RIP Prof. Higgs, even if I didn't understand a bloody word explaining your work.

Last month, Georgie teamed up with her stablemate Harriet Bradshaw, as the science half of a climate/science reporting double act. But she seems quite capable of doing double duty herself, should the need arise.
