BBC homepage: 'Why a short call to the tax office cost me £119'

Jared Evitts is a BBC journalist. He used Google—not googled, for Google doesn't like being used as a verb, Jared—to get HMRC's contact number, and found that he'd been stung by a 'tweener. But he's not alone.

Two other women who used Bounce Tech's call connection service, Lesley Carthy and Emma Oliver, said they were also unaware they were using a third party.

So either he's a woman, or he meant either two women or two other suckers used the same 'tweener without thinking.

Actually, Jared, what I'd do is search for HMRC's website, and get their number from there. But I'm old skool. (oldman)

Jared's Welsh, so I guess he just can't help getting fleeced. [tumbleweed]
