Most of it's boring

The One with the Comeback Sitcom

Friends, the '90s TV show that made a supermegastar of Jennifer Aniston's hair, is making a big comeback on streaming. I have no idea why, I couldn't stand it the first time 'round. But, then again, I'm a miserable git.

My 15-year old daughter watched some, and didn't understand what the fuss was all about. A girl after daddy's own heart.

Its new-found popularity on streaming may not be limited to people who missed out on the first airings—as the BBC's Entertainment reporter, Ian Youngs, suggests—but may extend to those who're reliving their youth. And there's nothing wrong in that.

I feel the same way about Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin's Ivor the Engine. Except that the acting was more animated; characters were well-rounded and engaging; stories were compelling; set design was realistic and relatable; there was no annoying laughter track, largely because it would destroy the dramatic impact; and it had a dragon! What more does anyone need?
