What's that smell?

TikTok BOOM!

The US proposes to ban TikTok, because it represents a security risk and turns users into zombies, unless the Chinese owner ByteDance sells the platform…presumably to an American company. I can see how its sale might reduce the security threat, if there is such a thing. Its users will remain zombies though.

But the proposal has met with strong criticism from the Chinese government, which claims the decision will come back to bite the US.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin accused the US of "suppressing TikTok" despite the fact that it "never found evidence that TikTok threatens national security." "This kind of bullying behaviour that cannot win in fair competition disrupts companies' normal business activity, damages the confidence of international investors in the investment environment, and damages the normal international economic and trade order," Mr Wang added.

Contrarily, China, that bastion of fair competion, does not suppress TikTok, does it?

As is the case with other social media platforms, TikTok is banned in China. Users in the country use a similar app, Duoyin, which is only available in China and subject to monitoring and censorship by the government.

Hang on a mo', Mr Wang(ker). You mean to say that the CCP suppresses TikTok to the point of banning it, yet fulminates when the US proposes to follow suit? What about all that fair competition disrupting companies' normal business activity bizzo? Hell's teeth, anyone would think the Chinese government really was using TikTok for nefarious purposes, or that President Pooh was a freakin' hypocrite.

I'm sure he's not though. (no)
