Unfortunate choice of words

screenshot from BBC NewsStreaming services have benefitted from the pandemic over the past year. As the Chongvirus has forced people to stay at home, they've turned to alternative domestic forms of entertainment.

But all good things must come to an end. At least, that's what the BBC would have you believe.

Video-streaming giant Netflix has reported a slowdown in subscriber growth, sending its shares tumbling. About 3.98 million people signed up for Netflix between January and March, well short of the projected 6 million.

Subsequently, Netflix's share-price fell 11%, wiping $25bn from its market capitalisation. Obviously, this is bad news for the company, but fears [that the] coronavirus boom is over is nothing short of an unfortunate turn of phrase. Most people wouldn't fear an end to the pandemic, albeit currently unrealistic; while the juxtaposition of coronavirus and boom is misguided, even if the underlying meaning is understood.

Verily, every silver lining has a cloud.
