The power of his personality - frankly his fame - means he leaves behind some devastated colleagues and a strand of the public who believe he has been hard done by.

Laura Kuenssberg, Boris Johnson: Laura Kuenssberg on the facts, farce and his future, BBC news

BBC headline: “Boris Johnson: Laura Kuenssberg on the facts, farce and his future”
Laura found a less misleading approach to getting her name into the headline than Katty Kay's.

Laura Kuenssberg could just as well be referring to Donald Trump as Boris Johnson. Except, to the best of my knowledge, she only covers UK politics.

But BoJo and The Donald have a lot in common, as undiplomatic embarrassments who won't go down and stay down. Their supporters will call this dogged determination; to their detractors, it's bullheadedness; and for the rest of us, it's a source of wry amusement.

Both have more grass-roots appeal than support from within their political parties. And both are as well-known for their hair as their policies.

While one's been kicked out of Parliament for lying over Partygate, the other's facing new charges over mishandling confidential documents. And both may well make bids for re-election. (clown)
