Everyday thoughts, but not every day

You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs

Australian police take a no-nonsense approach to law enforcement. Securing the nanny state down under against antisocial elements is not to be taken lightly.

Elements such as 95-year-old dementia patient Clare Nowland. When she confronted two New South Wales Police Force officers at her care home—it is fair to say at a slow pace—using a walking frame and armed with a steak knife, one of them heroically tasered her. Twice: once in her chest; and again in her back.

In the words of Assistant Police Commissioner Peter Cotter: She had a walking frame. But she had a knife. It's not reported whether he seriously thought the conjunction introduced just cause during the interview, or if he was just blowing smoke outta his arse. (clown)

Still, fracturing her skull in the fall at least saved Nowland from being placed in a choke hold. Australian police may be zealous, but they're not savages.
