Inconvenient convenience

BBC headline: “SpiceJet: Man locked in India plane toilet for over an hour”
[cough] …Indian plane toilet…

A passenger aboard an Indian domestic flight was locked in the toilet for over an hour, after the door malfunctioned. As the plane prepared for landing, a flight attendant advised him to close the commode lid and sit on it and secure yourself. He was only freed after an engineer boarded the plane at its destination.

SpiceJet has issued an apology, saying it regretted the "inconvenience caused to the passenger".

Under the circumstances, a convenience causing inconvenience is kinda ironic.

The incident has taken place at a time when India's aviation minister has said it [sic] would set up 'war rooms' at the country's six major airports to address issues around passenger inconveniences.

The provision of toilet facilities appears to be a wider problem for Indian airways, requiring a more coordinated solution from the aviation ministry. Or the minister himself even, personally stocking the war rooms with professional cleaning products. (shrug)
