League of extraordinary godbotherers

Disney's Muppet Babies has managed to piss off the Catholics. Yay!

President of the Catholic League, Bill Donohue, describes an episode in which Gonzo wants to wear a princess dress as child abuse.

The Muppet character, Gonzo, has “transitioned” to a girl, Gonzorella. That is why he is wearing a dress to the “royal ball.” He does more than wear a dress—he instructs Miss Piggy and Summer that “doing things a little different can be fun.”

Far be it for me to defend Disney, so I won't. I shall simply defend common sense.

Donohue is confusing a children's dress-up game with transgender politics. Gonzo doesn't transition, he pretends; and, at the end of the game, he returns to his normal self. It's known as imaginative play, and it's what children do. Clearly, the man is an overly-sensitive buffoon. Then again, Disney did slip in a non-binary pronoun where it wouldn't be expected, so there's that.

Honestly, given the Catholic Church's historical role in genuine child abuse worldwide, you'd think that the Catholic League would recognise that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. So, a message to Catholics: keep your heads down; mouths shut; sanctimonious opinions to yourselves, because nobody with an above room temperature IQ gives a shit what you think. Your church and its teachings are tainted goods.

And, something for Mr Donohue himself to consider. Have a word with Mrs Donohue about doing things a little different, you might just find that it can be fun! Phnaar phnaar!

Is it just me, or does Catholic League sound like some creepy cult?
