Is that the truth, or a lie, Vanny? Have any of my colleagues really submitted articles to your esteemed journal of irrelevance?

This one contains most of the hallmarks of solid, predatory spam:

  • changed From header;
  • urgency, we tried several times…;
  • unwarranted praise;
  • irrelevant scope;
  • extendable deadline;
  • submission by email, rather than a trackable upload platform;
  • substandard English;
  • tracking image linked to a campaign server and template;
  • deceptive address details.

But it adds a little something special: recognition that I have priorities and committments.

In respect of this, Vanessa doesn't want to overburden me, by requesting a full manuscript. She's such an understanding soul. All she wants is at least one of a number of shorter-form submissions. I have no idea what a case blog entails, but then I'm not a clinician. This blog, detailing cases of unsolicited solicitations, probably doesn't count though.

I wonder if an opinion piece or letter to the editor addressing the prevalence of spam from garbage-tier web comics would be acceptable?

According to her, they'll publish my article rapidly, without any interruption in peer review process. I think she confused this with either without any peer review process, or without any interruption in APC collection process. I'm confident that if there were any peer review, it would not stand in the way of that filthy lucre.

Annals in Clinical Images and Short Reports

  • Reality: No you haven't. This is template boilerplate text, distributed to unwilling recipients on your shitlist.

  • Reality: No you don't. The only accounting you're interested in is the APC fees.

In an academic world becoming more-and-more inundated with similarly-sounding titles spewing out intellectual detritus, someone at Medtext Publications hit upon the quite uninspiring title of Annals in Clinical Images and Short Reports. This is, at heart, just another case reports webcomic.

What Vanessa doesn't explain is how and why Belmont has moved to Chicago. She seems to have brilliantly conflated Illinois' house of ill-repute with the Californian cathouse. But, as far as I'm aware, she's never tramped The Golden State's mean streets, or spread 'em at Remedy Publications' Belmont bordello. She's always been a Medtext moll, through and through.
