Zoom zoom zoom (or not)
Following the disastrous ratings failings of the Golden Globes and the Emmys, nominees for the 93rd Academy Awards have been told that attendance via Zoom is not an option. Instead, social distancing measures will be in place. Well, that really worked for the Grammys, didn't it? (rolleyes)
The producers also asked nominees not to be casually dressed - another break from awards such as the Golden Globes where some winners appeared in very laid-back attire. "We're aiming for a fusion of inspirational and aspirational, which in actual words means formal is totally cool if you want to go there, but casual is really not," the letter read.
I'm glad I decided against attending the Oscars this year. At least I don't have to decide whether to go formal or not casual. (confused)
Anyhow, I can't stand using Zoom, or any videoconferencing for that matter, but it does make me think of Crash Team Racing. I usually race as Papu Papu, one of whose catchphrases, zoom zoom zoom
, booms out mockingly as I trail distantly behind my CTR buddy.
