The Irish broadcaster RTÉ has been accused of financial impropriety, including spending €5,000 on 200 pairs of flip-flops and a loss of €2.2M on another flop, Toy Show The Musical of all things.
In the end just 20,000 people went to see the show and only 11,044 of them were paying customers. 5,500 tickets supplied to guests on a complimentary basis with a further 3,500 awarded as prizes.

But nobody seems to have commented on the the cost of the flip-flops. €25 apiece? Ouch! That must be some mighty fine thonged footwear.
