Beat the meat
After all the hype and excitement of vegan foods rising to the challenge of tasting like meat, the public's enthusiasm for fake meat is waning in both the UK and US. This appears to be at least in part due to consumers' cost-consciousness in the face of soaring food prices, coupled with Beyond Meat's failure to force the taxpayer or meat buyers to sustain its business model.
In one bright spot for alternative proteins, Ms Grosse-Holz believes that they are well positioned for resilience amid ongoing supply chain issues. They often have shorter supply chains than animal agriculture, as they don't need to rely on the animal feed step.

While it's true that the initial animal feed step is removed, Ms Grosse-Holz seems to have overlooked the back-end addition of the make-plants-look-and-taste-like-meat step. But this step doesn't apply to meat, because it already looks and tastes like meat. Innit? (pipe)
