BBC headline: Thai owner of Miss Universe files for bankruptcy

Oh crap, that's torn it! T3h PaTriArchY's deep-cover operative within the beauty pageant business has been blown. JKN Global Group has filed for bankruptcy.

After buying the Miss Universe racket through her company last year, Agent Jakrajutatip pulled a fast one on the enemy, lulling them into a false sense of security:

Shortly after the announcement of JKN Global Group’s purchase, Jakrajutatip took the stage at the 71st Miss Universe Beauty Pageant in New Orleans in January and called “time’s up” on male ownership of the female empowerment competition. “Welcome to the new era,” she said. “From now on it’s going to be run by women, owned by a trans woman, for all women around the world.”

It was to be our shoe-in to get more men, pretending to be women, into the competition. Ultimately, with her working behind the scenes at the top of the organisation, one of our brave lads would become [cough] Miss Universe, further subjugating real women by beating them in their own pageant.

Now that she's failed in her mission, what's our Plan B, guys? Buy it back?

The Miss Universe label is really a misnomer, thanks to both its inclusivity and exclusivity. On the one hand, organisers have opened the competition up to married women and mothers, as well as transgender women, so Miss no longer applies because it's not inclusive; on the other, it's only open to earthlings, so Universe has always been a bit of a stretch, not unlike a North American world series. I think it should be renamed; although Julia Morley would probably object to Ms World, and Ms Earth sounds too much like a hippy chick.

Anne Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip is the CEO of JKN Global Group Public Company Limited, the share price of which has plummeted by more than 80% in the last year. She signed off her letter to the president of the Thai stock exchange, advising of her company's filing a petition for business rehabilitation, as Mr.Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip, not Ms, or even Mx, Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip. And not once, but twice. Old habits die hard.

I can't help but read Anne JKN with apostrophes—J'K'N' becomes JoKiNg.
